Snow day #6

Well the blizzard of 93 has been topped. We have about 2 feet of snow on the ground right now. Yes, I said feet. It started snowing early this morning and just stopped (finally). Since Rem and I are renters, we have to maneuvuer an ice obstacle course just to get to our cars. What I would give for a garage right now...I've had some pretty close calls but haven't busted it yet.

I titled this post "Snow day #6" because this is the 6th day Rem has been off from school. And I'm sure he won't be going back until Monday. There's so much snow on the ground and we aren't supposed to see sun or temperatures about freezing until Saturday. So once again, we are stuck in the house almost all week. This time I decided I'm really going to be productive and bring out some of those craft projects I start and haven't touched since before Thanksgiving. Got the tubberware of fabric out, but that's as far as I've gotten today. I'll be sure to post pictures of my projects once they are complete.

Now of course we took pictures of the snow. Or guess I should say Rem did. I have only ventured to the foot of the stairs to take Izzy to the bathroom. Here is the madness...

Izzy running in the little path someone created.

What a fierce little thing she is! :)

She looks annoyed in the picture. lol

Truck and van stuck randomly in our parking lot.

This is my favorite!!! Izzy decided to make a path of her own and she got stuck in a little hole. If you look closely you can see Izzy's tongue sticking out.

Snow day!

When I was little, we lived in TN for about 7 years. In 1993 there was a blizzard and I bet we got like a foot of snow. We were out of school for a week and Dad stayed home for couple days too. We had a pool then too and were able to go ice skating in our tennis shoes on it b/c it was frozen solid. That is the most snow I've ever seen in my life. This week, I saw the 2nd most snow in my life. 8 inches of snow.

Saturday was a beautiful day. It was nearly 70 degrees. Then Monday evening it began to get cold and I questioned whether we'd really get the foot of snow they were calling for. I needed to go grocery shopping, but there was no way I was fighting all the crazy people freaking out about needing bread and milk. So Rem ended up going for me. I rushed to the gym since I knew I wouldn't be able to go for a few days if the blizzard really did come. I rushed b/c I wanted to get home before The Bachelor came on. I never really watch the Bachelor but I've become addicted this time. By the time the 10 o'clock news came on, a couple of the smaller schools had already canceled classes.

I woke up when my alarm went off and all the local schools were out. YES! That meant I got to roll over and go back to sleep. When Rem took Izzy out, he said there was a thick layer of ice everywhere. Around 9 in the morning the snow started falling. Then it got heavier.

My bathroom is very cold and windy!

Izzy looks cold!

I took this this afternoon before we went to Walmart.

Izzy sprinting in the snow!

This afternoon, Rem and I decided to take a little trip to Walmart. The roads were covered in snow and ice of course. Rem drove - I'm way too chicken. Here's a few pictures from our drive.

Here's a car that slide off the road. You can see a good part of my wind shield is still covered in ice.

This is 14th Street or Hwy 102, which is the main road that runs through Bentonville and Centerton. Usually this road is packed with traffic. There were a few cars on the road. Oh and there was so much snow on the hood of my car, I couldn't put my windshield wipers down. While Rem was in Walmart, I worked on cleaning off my car somemore.

I put Izzy in the back seat b/c she was all wet from the snow. You can see it on her face.

We make jokes about Izzy snorting crack whens she has snow on her face.

There's a nice little chunk of ice hanging from her lip. lol

I have a video of Izzy in the snow, but can't get it posted. :( I'll try again later.

Happy reading!

Note to self...

Actually a couple...

#1 - It's ok for your husband NOT to know all of your passwords.
#2 - Leave longer honey-do list the next time I am working all day and my husband is at home.
#3 - Do not leave camera on table to be used for entertainment while I am hard at work.
#4 - Snow day for Rem= mischief day, not laundry like it did for me.

*sighs* So my password has been changed. (HAHA! Good luck figuring that one out Rem!) There will be no more of Rem "taking over" my blog. I called it hacking. I explained to Rem that I am the star and he is the co-star. He already knows I'm the Queen of the Universe (Izzy is the Princess of course) so he shouldn't have any problems comprehending. But often times Rem has a difficult time comprehending such simple concepts.  Ok enough Rem bashing for now. I really do love him w/ all my heart. Now that fur-ball of a thing that was on his face, not so much. For the record, I was NOT an antagonist this time. That thing had been growing on his face for weeks and I never once complained. I did ask him to trim it before going out with some friends but he clearly agreed to that.

(I started this post like 2 weeks ago but never finished. Now I'm home again for another snow day, so I thought I'd catch up!)

On Friday, I obviously went into work. My goal was to make it there by 10 and I made it! The schools were closed but a lot of the snow had melted on Thursday afternoon. I emailed my co-workers and they were going in, so I had to. The roads weren't that bad though. I just drove slow and kept a good distance between the cars in front of me. We were supposed to get more snow on Sunday but that didn't happen.

You'd think with me starting a blog that I'd keep my camera on me more often...That hasn't happened yet so I apologize for only iphone quality pictures.

Here is Izzy in the snow this year. It was funny watching her run in the snow. Sometimes it gets a little deep for her short little legs.

I put her jacket on her to make sure she stays warms. :)

Here's the snow outside our apartment. I love the snow when it is fresh. It's so pretty.
This picture makes the building looks wavy. Not sure how that happened.

Friday night, we had date night with our friends Amiee and Justin. Rem found a coupon for Fun City Pizza in Springdale. You buy 2 rounds of mini golf and get a free medium pizza. Golf and pizza for $6! Pretty good deal if you ask me. Now I say mini golf, but they should really call it micro golf. The entire course was about 1000 square feet.

Justin taking a shot

Rem takes his mini golf very seriously.

One of my hole in ones! I think I had 2! I was proud of myself!

You can only see 2 of the 3, but there are little holes you have to hit the ball through...We knew this would be difficult.

And it was...

Told you the course was tiny.

10th hole!

View from the end of the course.

Not sure how well you can see the total scores. Rem was keeping score...Notice he also won...Hmmm

The boys being boys.

This is a game called Big Buck Hunter. It cracked me up to see it as an arcade game because this game is sold at Walmart. It used to be one of my items when I was in toys. It was a great seller and not just in states like Arkansas. I guess you could think of it as a suped up version of duck hunt.

Golfing was Friday night. Saturday night we celebrated one of our niece's 11th birthday. We are fortenate enough to have Rem's sister Apryll and husband Todd and their 4 kids so close to us. They have 3 boys and 1 girl. We were excited to enjoy some yummy cake with everyone!

Compliments of Shelby Lynn's Bakery! Apryll grew up with Shelby so they always get cakes from her for birthdays. They are yummy!

Putting the candles on...

Ok I had a better picture of this but it's showing up side ways. Notice how Emily placed the candles in the monkey's nose. hehe

Singing the Myer's renddition of Happy Birthday...The Myers are singers, I am not so I try not to sing very loud.

Blowing out the candles!

The cake was pound cake I'm pretty sure. Was marble with butter cream frosting and filling! I just ignored the fact it likely contained a days worth of calories in it. Man it was good though!
